The first airstrip mentioned in the territory of
the commune of Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent is
land located in Le Breil, lent by the army in 1910
to allow the holding of an "aviation meeting" which
features a speed race between Angers and Saumur.
Jules Amiot, mayor of Saint-Hilaire Saint-Florent,
is one of the event most energic supporters.

The organization of the first Aviation Grand Prix
of the Aéro-Club de France (June 1912), which
plans a stopover in Breil, requires land
to be developed. The plan is organised
by V.-P. Brunel and Henri Jamard.
Roland Garros, Georges Legagneux
participate in the event.
The army, which is interested in aviation,
offers a landing station in Terrefort.
The municipal council of Saumur dismisses it in 1913.
